Man wanted by police arrested during routine traffic stop

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) –  A man wanted by police on 14 outstanding warrants was captured Thursday during a routine traffic stop.

Around 1:43 p.m. a deputy marshal stopped a car at Steam Mill Road and Chandler Driver in Columbus, GA. Both the driver and the front-seat passenger were not wearing their seat belts.

The deputy then noted that the driver's license was suspended and arrested him.

When running a check on the passenger, George Willis, the officer found a running record on him with the Columbus Police Department and the Muscogee County Sheriff's Office.

Willis was wanted and arrested on the following charges: No Seat Belt, Probation Violation, Violation of Controlled Substance Act, Theft By Receiving, Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Stalking, Criminal Trespass, Simple Battery (4 counts), Battery (2 counts), Cruelty to Children, and Contempt of Court.
