COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Paying for college next year just got a little easier for some high school graduates.

The brothers of Omega Psi Phi honored several local students at a scholarship awards ceremony Sunday afternoon. High school seniors from all over the valley were given a total of $14,000 in college scholarships based on their merit and grade point average.

Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Member Marvin Broadwater told News Leader Nine, "The local chapter has donated more than $260,000 since 1945 in scholarship money. This is just another day to do the same thing. We do this every single year."

The scholarships come from money raised at the annual golf tournament hosted by the fraternity towards the end of June.
