Cooked beef recalled due to presence of animal drugs

Press Release

ATLANTA - Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tommy Irvin alerts consumers to some imported beef products that are being recalled because they may be injected with a drug used as a de-worming agent in live animals.

Sampco, Inc., Chicago, Ill., is recalling approximately 87,000 pounds of cooked beef products that may contain the animal drug, Ivermectin.  The products were distributed to retail outlets nationally.

The recalled products are:

12-ounce cans of "Libby's CORNED BEEF" with production codes "100222 U," "100219 U," or "100224 U."

35-pound boxes of "Seasoned Cooked Beef" distributed to an establishment for further processing.

The imported products have "BRASIL 337 S.I.F" printed on the top or side panel of the packaging as well as the notation "Product of Brazil" or "Packed under Brazilian Government Inspection."

Consumers who have purchased these products should return them to place of purchase.  Those with concerns about illness should contact a physician.
