Man arrested for hit and run of Auburn cyclist

AUBURN, AL (WTVM) - The man accused of running over Auburn bicyclist, Ty Garner,  has been indicted by a Lee county grand jury.

East Alabama residents have rallied behind TY Garner and his family after the popular physical therapist was critically injured back in August of last year after being hit by a motorist on Shug Jordan Parkway.

Auburn police say 22-year old Andrew Holland left the scene after hitting garner with his bike, but did return about an hour later. This morning Holland was arrested after being indicted by a Lee county grand jury.

"He was indicted for felony leaving the scene of an accident and felony assault second. He did turn himself into Auburn police department and was taken to lee county justice center and placed under a 20,000 bond," said Auburn Police Chief, Tommy Dawson.

Chief Tommy Dawson will not comment on why police believe Holland, who was 21 at the time of the accident, left the scene, then returned a while later.

We are still waiting on a call back to see when his first court appearance will be.
