Destiny Hot Dogs, targeted in crimes, reopens at new location

COLUMBUS, (WTVM) – A south Columbus business owner bounces back after falling prey to burglars.

Wednesday, Destiny Hot Dogs began serving its popular in a new location, but with a different concept.

Last August, owner Kenny Williams was forced to shut down the Victory Drive due to a fire and armed robbery.

He recalls having a gun pointed at his head. "Fear didn't kick in right away, I was more concerned about the people rather than myself. Thank God…no one got hurt, " said Kenneth Williams, Owner, Destiny Hot Dogs.

The new location on Andrews Road is not a dine-in restaurant. Rather customers will place their orders from a walk-up window.

"It's (about) keeping the customers secure, the employees secure. We can serve them the same product as we have in the past," said Williams.

News Leader 9 talked to a couple of customers with mixed reactions.

"I really don't like the walk up window but to get the dogs i have to sacrifice to get them," said James McClenton.

"I think it's a good idea -- he should do really well," said Terry Moore.

Also, Destiny Hot Dogs has extended its hours. You can now enjoy a tasty hot dog from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
