MERIWETHER COUNTY, GA (WTVM) -  A Georgia man is dead after a weekend motorcycle crash.

Deputy Coroner for Meriwether County Leonard Wigley says 58-year-old David Watkins was riding his motorcycle Saturday along with four friends about a half mile from the Talbot/Meriwether County line on Highway 85 Alternate.

Wigley says Watkins drifted off the curvy road and went about 400 feet on the grass before he struck a guy wire connected to a telephone pole, slicing off his arm at the shoulder and ejecting him from his bike.

Watkins was pronounced dead at the scene from his injuries around 6:30 PM.

The deputy coroner lists Phenix City, AL as his hometown.
