One Tank Trip: River City Pass, Columbus

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - When you go on a vacation, the cost of activities and entertainment can be staggering.

That's why the Columbus Convention and Visitors Bureau is helping you trim costs and enjoy all that Columbus has to offer with the River City Pass.

It's your ticket to an inexpensive and fun staycation, according to Shelby Guest with the CVB.

"That's one reason why cruise ships are so popular, because you pay one price and everything is done for you. So, we thought, let's come up with our own concept of that cruise ship mentality and that's where the River City Pass was born," Guest said.

The River City Pass offers a lot of discounts at local restaurants in downtown Columbus, and it also gets you admission into place like the National Civil War Naval Museum at Port Columbus.

Or the Coca-Cola Space Science Center, downtown on Front Avenue.

And the National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center's Rifle Range.

That includes a ticket to the IMAX theatre. All of these places you can get into for just 20 bucks.

And that's not all.

The pass offers discounts to jewelers, clothing stores, the Columbus Symphony Orchestra and the RiverCenter.

If you visit all of the big attractions, it's a 20 percent savings from normal admission costs.

Add in all the other discounts and the card literally pays for itself.

"What I really like about this card, is that it's good for an entire year. So, if you want to go to Port Columbus this weekend and maybe next November go to see something at the Coca-Cola Space Science Center, it's still good. But there's also discounts on here for about 32 different shops and eateries and other event destinations and these discounts and specials are good for the entire year," Guest said.
