COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Columbus Police spent the lunch hour working an accident that left one driver's car in the garden center at Wynnton Hardware.

Witnesses say around 11:15 Friday morning, the two-vehicle accident occurred when one driver was heading westbound on Wynnton Road.

She was turning across both eastbound lanes, when another car traveling on Wynnton Road collided with her.

Keith Shorter, the driver whose car wound up among the ferns and roses, said neither he nor the other driver were hurt, but both would go to the Medical Center for evaluation.

"I made it through the light, I was coming down Macon Road and a lady just came right across in front of me and I just smashed into her," Shorter said.

As tow trucks worked to remove both vehicles from the scene, traffic was backed up on the eastbound lanes of Wynnton Road for nearly 30 minutes.

The identity of the female driver is unknown.
