Man pistol whipped at Columbus nightclub

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Columbus Police are investigating an assault and attempted robbery at Sky Nightclub on Midtown Drive. 

Police tell News Leader 9 that the victim was inside his vehicle in the parking lot when another man pointed a weapon and hit him in the head with the gun.   It happened around just after 1:00 Thursday morning.

The driver put the car in reverse and drove out of the parking lot, but in the process struck several cars. The driver then drove toward Macon Road. When he arrived to Woodland Drive, the victim called police.

Lt. Warren Dunlap says police could visibly see bruises on the victim's face. He was treated by medics at the scene for cuts and swelling on the back of his head. 
The suspect is described as being a black man between 25-30-years-old, 5'8-5'10, 160-180 lbs., and wearing a white shirt and jean shorts.

The case is being investigated as a criminal attempt armed robbery.
