OPELIKA, AL (WTVM) – Anthony Vines, the man convicted of raping an elderly Opelika woman, has been sentenced Thursday to 50 years in prison.

Those in the courtroom also found out that Vine had a previous rape charge in Georgia. but was found not guilty in that case.

He was convicted the rape charge in east Alabama back in March.

Vines will receive credit for time already served. He accused of raping 91-year old Annie Hilyer.

Recently, Hilyer testified during both trials. The first ended in a hung jury. The second ended with a guilty verdict.
