COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – Allegations of possible misuse of funds by Columbus Parks and Recreation director, Tony Adams, came to light at Tuesday's city council meeting.
Adams did not appear in council chambers at the request of his attorney.
Recently, an internal investigation was launched after a 27-page audit revealed questions surrounding the spending of $150,000 by the Columbus Parks and Recreation Department.
Adams, the parks director, was ordered by city to file a written response by June 8th.
His supervisor, deputy city manager Lisa Goodwin, presented his response at Tuesday's council meeting.
Columbus mayor Jim Wetherington has not called off the investigation and we are told the city manager will recommend any changes that should be made to procedures within the parks department.
Those recommendations will be presented at the city's next council meeting.
