COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A recent Forbes report ranks Columbus, Georgia 6th in the nation for projected job growth.

In addition, Manpower's latest job outlook survey shows employers in Georgia and Alabama plan to hire more workers in the third quarter of 2010.

So, with more jobs coming our way, what can you do to land one of them?

Experts say, first take advantage of training courses, especially in those industries with the most projected growth.

"There's customer service courses, there's certification in customer service, there's also courses in healthcare," says Manpower's Delia Postell.

Postell also adds it's critical to make necessary adjustments to your resume.

"If you have experience in accounting, if you have experience in customer service and you have experience in perhaps a call center setting, you might want to have three resumes."

It may seem simple, but network.

"Take advantage of all the people you know, social networking, get out there on Facebook, on Linkedin, start talking to your references," Postell says.

Another tip, start saving so you can spruce up your wardrobe.

"Squirrel a little bit away, get your suits ready, get ready for those interviews."

Finally, Postell says, spend some time doing your homework about the industry or company you'd like to work for.

"You want to be up on current events within that company, you want to know about that company, know about their products."
