COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -  Columbus Police say the body of a man has been discovered in an abandoned house on the city's north side.

According to investigators, a group of workers arrived at a home at 8251 Cooper Creek Road, not far off of Veterans Parkway, Wednesday morning to do construction and found a decomposing body in the attic.

Police say the body has been there for a "length of time" but tell WTVM it appears no foul play is involved.

The Muscogee County Coroner's Office is not releasing the man's identity but officials say his body has been taken to the state crime lab for an autopsy.
