AUBURN, AL - On Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at approximately 8:58 p.m. Auburn Police Division officers responded to an apartment complex in the 200 block of Opelika Road in reference to a report of an armed robbery that had just occurred in the parking lot at that location.
Upon arrival officers contacted the victim, a 31-year-old Hispanic male, who advised that two people tried to rob him at gunpoint of his vehicle.
During the incident the victim was struck in the head with a pistol and was treated at the scene and released by emergency medical personnel.
A description of the suspects, who had fled the scene on foot, was given to officers.
A short time later a male and a female fitting the descriptions were contacted by officers in the parking lot of a business at the intersection of East Glenn Avenue and North Gay Street.
The two were taken into custody and each is charged with Robbery 1st Degree and Assault 2nd Degree.
They are identified as Craig L. Stinson, age 17, and Kayla N. Barree, age 19, both of Auburn.
Stinson is being charged as an adult. The weapon believed to have been used in the incident was recovered. Stinson and Barree were transported to the Lee County Detention Center and turned over to jail personnel.
Barree was also served with outstanding warrants for Burglary 3rd Degree and Theft of Property 2nd Degree.
Those charges stem from a residential burglary that occurred March 31 in the 2600 block of Lee Road 84.
