PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) - News Leader 9 is following developments in the shooting death of a Phenix City woman.
Wednesday morning her husband, 36-year-old Adrian Ezell, appeared in court on charges of murder. A judge set his bond at $500,000.
Phenix City Police say they received a call around 8:00 p.m. Monday about a person being shot in a home on Jason Drive in the Ridgebrook subdivision.
When they arrived they found 32-year-old Felisha Ezell dead with three gunshot wounds in the back.
Assistant Chief Robert Casteel of the Phenix City Police Department says her husband alerted police after allegedly pulling the trigger.
"When we arrived, he told us where the body was and said he didn't mean to do it," said Casteel.
Adrian Ezell was arrested and charged with homicide. Casteel says the couple was arguing, but it is not known at this time why they were arguing.
Capt. Frank Ivey from the Phenix City Police Department said, "Based on his statements and other info that we have gathered, we do believe that this was a one person event. And, yes, we do believe we have the right guy."
Felisha Ezell owned and operated Hair Pro's Beauty Salon on Buena Vista Road in Columbus, GA. Wednesday morning, the salon was open for business.
Just a few doors down from Pro's Beauty Salon, stylists inside Chozen Beauty Salon are hurting. " I can't believe it. I am in shock," said Neicy Grant, hair stylist "She didn't deserve that. She was a sweet girl."
Others who worked with Felisha describe her as dedicated and hardworking. One woman says she knew something was wrong when her business was closed. "I looked and opened the door and I didn't feel right. I didn't think anything until someone came up and told me what happened," said Melva Roberts.
Felisha leaves behind three children who, Casteel says, were not home at the time of the murder. The Department of Family and Children's Services has placed the children with family.
The case is being investigated by Criminal Investigation Division of the Phenix City Police Department. Authorities tell us there are waiting on forensic information from an autopsy and from evidence taken from the scene.
A preliminary hearing for Adrian Ezell has been scheduled to be held on July 27th at 9:00 a.m. in the Russell County Courthouse.
Tuesday evening friends and neighbors held a prayer vigil outside the family's home.
