Police: Man on the loose following "drug robbery gone bad"

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – Columbus Police are looking for 22-year-old Paul Fontimayor in connection with a shooting that occurred on 13th Avenue near 31st Street in central Columbus.

When police arrived on the scene around 4:30 p.m. Thursday they found 23-year-old Ronald Vaughn lying in the middle of the street with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was transported to the Medical Center to be treated for his injuries. His condition is not known at this time.

Authorities tell News Leader 9, the two men allegedly had an encounter inside a home on 13th Avenue and suddenly starting shooting at each other.

Around some homes were several bullet casings as well as evidence markings.  It is believed there were multiple shots fired.

Investigators says they are currently treating the case as an aggravated assault. They are calling the case a "drug robbery gone bad".

It is believed additional arrests are pending. News Leader 9 is following this story. We'll have the latest information as soon as it becomes available.
