FORT BENNING, GA – Col. Daniel A. Kessler will relinquish command of the 198th Infantry Brigade to Col. Bruce Parker during a change of command ceremony at 9 a.m., June 30 at Sand Hill.
The 198th Infantry Brigade is responsible for One Station Unit Training, and is where approximately 20,000 civilians each year are transformed into Infantry Soldiers.
The incoming commander, Parker, was commissioned as an Infantry officer in 1985 through the Reserve Officers' Training Corps at Seattle University.
A recent graduate of the U.S. Army War College at Carlisle Barracks, Pa., Parker has served in a variety of tactical and operational assignments while with units including the 7th Infantry Division, 82nd Airborne Division and the XVIII Airborne Corps.
He has led Soldiers in combat at the company and battalion levels in Panama, Iraq and Afghanistan.
Kessler has served as the commander of the 198th Infantry Brigade since June 17, 2008. He will retire from the Army after 27 years of service.
