E. Alabama woman killed in one-car accident

LEE COUNTY, AL (WXTX) –  Fox 54 has learned an east Alabama woman was killed after her SUV left the road early Sunday morning. 

The accident occurred around 2:00 a.m. on Lee County Roads 240 and 169 -- about 8 miles west of Smiths Station, AL.

Authorities say 25-year-old Donna Ennis of Smiths Station, AL died from multiple blunt force injuries to her head and chest.

Investigators believe the 2001 Ford Escape she was driving veered off Lee Road 240 on the 4th of July.  Her SUV struck several trees before coming to a stop.

State troopers tell us, Ennis was found in her SUV about 10 hours later when a passing motorist called police after seeing the vehicle in the woods. 

Investigators are still trying to determine a cause of the accident.
