COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – If you were hoping to play in the pool at Double Churches Park in North Columbus, make plans elsewhere.

It may be late summer when you can enjoy the waters at your favorite spot.

Officials tell us construction on a new $2 million pool is still underway.

The original Olympic size pool was torn down last spring to make way for a 25-yard  leisure pool concept with spiral slides and buckets.

Parks and Recreation assistant director, Cammie Currie says she is optimistic the pool will be complete next month.

Pools generally close the week before school starts, this year classes in Muscogee County begin August 9th.
