PINE MOUNTAIN, GA (WTVM) -  Paul Lewis says he feels cheated.

He is one of thousands who come out every year to see the fireworks display at the beach at Callaway Gardens.

After spending close to $100 for his family to see this year's show, Lewis says things went off without a bang. According to him, a few fireworks went off and then they stopped and the display abruptly ended.

"I was totally, totally disappointed and a little irritated too. The fireworks weren't even close to what we thought they were going to be. We had spent all that money and the fireworks were the whole reason we went out there," Lewis told News Leader 9.

Callaway Gardens officials say an unforeseen technical problem stopped the show and in response, they're putting it on again Friday night July 9th for free.

"When we got to our fireworks show, there were some technical difficulties and we did not have a complete 100% so we are having another show this Friday night. The company who does it and Callaway Gardens are striving to make it bigger and better than it would have been on Sunday night and we hope everyone will get the chance to come out," said the local attraction site's representative, Rachel Crumbley.

"It's not going to be the same but I'm really kind of pleased that they are trying to do something because it was a lot of money and a lot of disappointment when they didn't fire off the way they were supposed to," Lewis said.

The free events kick off at Callaway Gardens at 5 PM Friday with different performances.

The fireworks show will follow at 9:30 PM.

PINE MOUNTAIN, GA (7/5/10) - Callaway Gardens would like to invite everyone for a FREE Friday Night of Fun and Fireworks this Friday, July 9, 2010.

After a great day of fun, sun, circus performances and a concert on July 4th, the fireworks finale was not up to Callaway Gardens' standards. Callaway Gardens has partnered with East Coast Pyrotechnics, Inc. for more than 15 years to provide memorable firework displays. This year a failed electrical system kept some of the fireworks from launching.
