Special Ops Unit hits Columbus apartment, four arrested

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -  Four men are facing charges in connection with a bust at an alleged Columbus drug house.

Members of the Columbus Police Department's Special Operations Unit say the bust was the result of a three-month-long investigation into drug activity coming out of a local apartment.

It happened Saturday night on Bernard Drive, in between Andrews Road and Cusseta Road on the city's south side.

Captain Gil Slouchick, who heads up the Special Ops Unit, tells WTVM officers found 14 grams of crack cocaine with a street value of $1400 and close to three pounds of marijuana with a street value of $12,260 as well as a pistol.

Four Columbus men were arrested at the scene:

Twenty-four-year-old Jeremiah Walton who faces charges of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a drug-related object.

Twenty-one-year-old William Leverich Walton who faces charges of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a drug-related object and obstruction of a police officer.

Nineteen-year-old Douglas Armour who faces charges of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of a drug-related object.

Twenty-year-old Jeffery Flakes who faces charges of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of a drug-related object.

The suspects appeared in Columbus Recorder's Court Monday morning.

    An ATM burglary was reported at a business in LaGrange Monday morning. The burglary happened at the Alpha Smoke Shop located on Bull Street.
