Worker arrested for allegedly stealing city funds

PHENIX CITY, AL - On Friday, July 09, 2010, the Phenix City Police Department arrested a former city employee for Theft of Property 1st Degree.

Twenty-six-year-old Travor Truitt of Phenix City has been charged with using City of Phenix City funds to purchase numerous items for his personal use. 

It was discovered that between April 5th, 2010 and June 25th, 2010 Truitt, who was employed by the Phenix City Utilities Department as a Purchasing Clerk had defrauded the city of at least $4,500.

In Alabama, the theft of property which exceeds $2,500 constitutes Theft of Property 1st Degree, which is a Class B Felony.
