Phenix City man to compete for Army Reserve Soldier of the Year

PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) – A Phenix City resident is one of only 30 area soldiers competing to be the Army Reserve Soldier of the Year.

The 30 soldiers are among more than 200,000 competing for this honor at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin this week.

Staff Sergeant Jason Searcy is a member of Phenix City's SWAT team and is a Military Police Soldier in the Army Reserve.

Staff Sgt, Searcy is a Columbus native. He graduated from Hardaway High School in 2000 and has served in the Army for 9 years – including deployment to Kuwait as a customs inspector.
