COLUMBUS, GA  (WTVM) – Michael Registe, the man accused of killing two Hardway High School graduates, has hired an attorney.

The 27-year-old was previously represented by Columbus attorney Stacey Jackson. That was until the Georgia Supreme Court upheld a local judge's decision to remove Jackson from the case – citing his representation was a conflict of interest.

His new attorney is Manubi Arora of Atlanta.

Prosecutors say Registe fled the country after the 2007 double-murders of two Columbus college students, 21-year-old Randy Newton, Jr. and 20-year-old Brian Kilgore.

Registe, a former America's Most wanted murder suspect, was caught in St. Maarten in August of 2008.
