CHAMBERS COUNTY, AL (WTVM) – The Chambers County Sheriff's Office tells News Leader 9 an east Alabama worker was killed on the job.

The accident happened Friday afternoon at Daeki American, Inc. while workers were fixing a broken machine.

The man was trying to fix a large machine at the plant, when somehow it turned back on, crushing the worker inside.

Investigators say when law enforcement arrived, he was already dead.

Officials are not releasing the worker's name until the family has been notified.

The death is still under investigation by the Occupational Safety and Enviromental Association, or, OSEA.

Chambers County Chief Investigator, John Herbert, says, "we're still under investigations of course, OSEA has to come in, our departments already been there preliminary, right now we're just ruling it as an industrial accident but you know we're really going to have to wait until OSEA come in with investigations and also find out the autopsy of the body to know what actually caused the death."

The body has been sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science for an autopsy.

Daeki is a Korean based manufacturing plant that makes items for cars.
