COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Police tell News Leader 9 that a Columbus woman was shot and killed early on Saturday Morning.

According to Muscogee County Deputy Coroner Charles Newton, 49-year-old Diane Patricia Norman was pronounced dead just before 6:00 a.m.

Police arrived on the scene at Garden Drive and 25th Avenue in Columbus just after 5:00 a.m. to find Norman lying in the road.

According to Police Lt. Charles Kennedy Norman suffered a gunshot wound to her back. There are no suspects at this time and no arrests have been made in connection with the murder.

Norman's body has been sent to Atlanta for autopsy, results are expected back on Monday.
