VALLEY, AL (WTVM) - News Leader 9 has new dash cam video of a chase involving a rape suspect in east Alabama.  He's accused of abducting an 80-year-old woman from her store in Valley and raping her. Neighbors say they're terrified.

"It just shocked me, I said she's missing, and this other guy said he'd been over there 10 minutes before that and he said he'd seen a white pickup truck. It was a white pickup truck." Said Shirley Neace who lives next door to Milner's Stop and Shop, where the victim was abducted.

Investigators say the video is that white pickup truck, refusing to pull over for police. We are told, previously convicted rapist James Pollard is driving it with 80-year-old Dale Milner in the front seat.

Dale Milner says she counts her blessings she got out alive. "I am thankful that I got out of it alive. I didn't think I was going to get out of it. I thought I was going to be killed. They need to put him away for a long time," said Milner.

"We are very disappointed. We never think something like this would happen like this to our community and it just got everybody afraid in the community," said community member, Vertice Irvin.

Shirley Neace, a nearby neighbor, called police.  She says it's scary because this kind of crime normally doesn't happen in their area. "I'm afraid for my kids to be out and I told my grandson I said you can't go the store by yourself," said Neace.

Neace says the close-knit community is something she's proud of, neighbors protecting each other. "We're all close around here and we watch out for each other.  If we see anything go on in any other facility we usually call somebody," remarked Neace.

The suspect in this case, James Pollard, appeared in Chambers County Court Tuesday on charges of kidnapping and rape.  His bond has been set at $1.5 million.

Pollard is currently being held at the Chambers County Detention Center.
