Columbus man indicted for allegedly abusing Rx pills

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – A Muscogee County grand jury indicts a Columbus man for allegedly violating Georgia's controlled substance law.

Recently, 27-year-old Bobby Jo Burkett was arrested after Metro Narcotics agents found drug paraphernalia and six empty bottles of prescription pain medication.

In addition, special agents say the Burkett was "doctor shopping" allegedly visiting area doctors and getting multiple prescriptions for hundreds of pain medications.

Days before a search of his home, Burkett was arrested in connection with fire that occurred at River Road Pharmacy.
