COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – News Leader 9 has learned Columbus Regional Healthcare System has acquired the Tidwell Cancer Treatment Center.

The center was founded in the early 1990s by Dr. Jack Tidwell.

Officials at Columbus Regional tell News Leader 9 the new move is a good fit.  We are told the cancer center will continue to offer radiation oncology services as well as direct patient care.

Dr. Tidwell and his wife Eve are well known for their community involvement and their support of education.

The couple recently founded the "God Bless Fort Benning" celebration and recently honored cancer survivors through their annual "Cancer Survivors Day" events in our community.

Saint Francis Hospital

Our news team is following Friday's announcement. We'll have a detail report beginning on News Leader 9 at Five.
