COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The Columbus Northern Little League Southeast Regional Champs boarded a bus for Atlanta Monday morning.   The team's flight departed Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport for Williamsport, PA where they will compete for the second time in the World Series.

Randy Morris, Team Manager, led his team to victory in 2006. "I am telling them to relax, have fun and just enjoy the moment.  We're going to what I call 'baseball heaven'."

Morris says the previous victory gives him an advantage that's he's sharing with his players. "I am able to tell the kids a lot of what's going on up there and what to expect from different teams."

The players say they're ready for the challenge. "Take it one game at a time, because these teams won their regional's too and they're very good," said Knox Carter, Northern Left Fielder.

"We're going to have to play defense a lot better, hit a lot better," said Brandon Pugh, Northern Short Stop.

"Sleep on the way to Atlanta to airport and he (Morris) will make sure we rest and go to bed at a certain time so we're ready to play," said Jack Tanner, Northern Player.

After a few hugs and well wishes, the boys said their farewells to family.

Northern beat Florida Friday in a 9-2 victory in Warner Robbins, GA.
