COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – Columbus police say a man attacked his niece with an ax at a home located in the 700 block of 6th Avenue.

A 22-year-old woman told police around 4:00 p.m. Monday afternoon, her two uncles were fighting over food stamps.

The woman told police when she walked outside to escape the argument, one of her uncles, 32-year-old Frazier Tarver, followed her outside and started yelling at her.

He allegedly grabbed the victim by the face, punched her in the ear, and scratched her face.

The victim also says Tarver picked up an axe and held it to her throat – threatening to kill her.
