Three shootings could be connected, two men on the run

EUFAULA, AL (WTVM) -  Eufaula Police have stepped up patrols around two apartment complexes after a series of shootings that are believed to be connected.

The first incident happened Sunday night at the Bluff Park Apartments off State Docks Road. Police say a gunman fired into one of the units, with residents inside.

Luckily, no one was injured but officials say this first shooting was a catalyst to two other shootings Tuesday night.

Around 9:00 p.m. central Tuesday at the same apartment complex, police say a pedestrian shooter fired into a car riding through, hitting one of the passengers in the arm.

Two hours later, police say a drive-by shooting took place at the Chattahoochee Court Apartment Housing Project.

Witnesses told officers gun shots were being fired out of a car and when the cops spotted it, a chase ensued into Georgia.

The pursuit ended right over the river in Georgetown, GA when the suspect car crashed. Authorities say the driver got away but two passengers were arrested -- a 19-year-old man and a juvenile whose names are not yet being released. A sawed off shotgun was seized from the car.

Now, police are looking for the driver and another man believed to be responsible for the second shooting at Bluff Park.

The juvenile is being held in a Dothan jail and the 19-year-old suspect is in the Eufaula Jail facing charges.

Eufaula Police officials say there is no evidence that the shootings are the result of  an ongoing turf war or drug war but rather a response by friends of the shooting victims.
