COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Fresh start ministries gave out food to people in need. The head of fresh start ministries, Pastor Millie Johnson says she is proud to help the community. She has been doing this particular food giveaway for the past three years."There's a lot of people that are unrecognized in the community that are homeless and don't have anything to eat",  said Tamara Wesley the daughter of Pastor Johnson.

Pastor Johnson told News Leader Nine that about 250 boxes of food were ordered to distribute to people in the community. The boxes of food were prepared to help the homeless or people who may need that extra push at the end of the month. "I appreciate her doing this there are a few friends of mine that are in need I'm glad I could be here today to help them," said community resident Samantha Cupp.

Rosie McKee is a volunteer with Fresh Start and she enjoys helping the community. "Giving back to the community it makes you feel good about-just being there to support those that are in time of need," said Rosie McKee
