Columbus police investigate home invasion and sexual assault

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Columbus police are investigating an early morning home invasion in south Columbus. 

The details are still sketchy, but according to police, the suspect or suspects barged into the home located on Blan Street near South Lumpkin Road. 

News Leader 9 has learned the mother and child who were inside the home were both sexually assaulted. The incident happened around 1:00 a.m. Monday morning.

The victims ages have not been released and no suspects have been arrested.  Detectives are following up on leads from witnesses.
