AUBURN, AL (WTVM) - Auburn Police say members of the Auburn University Federal Credit Union and others are getting telephone scam calls.
First, police say residents answer the phone call, then hear a recorded voice claiming to be an administrator of the credit union. Then they ask for personal information, including debit card information.
Police are investigating the scam, but they say it is very difficult to trace the call because it is an unknown, external number.
This is not the first phishing scam involving the university credit union. An e-mail version was fooling residents in 2008.
