Dr. David White to head TROY’s Phenix City Campus

Press Release

PHENIX CITY, AL Dr. David M. White has been named campus vice chancellor for Troy University's Phenix City Campus as a result of an administrative reorganization within the University.

Dr. White has worked in teaching and administrative roles at TROY since 1996. He most recently served as director of TROY's Southeast Region, which includes 21 campus sites in Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Florida and Tennessee. Dr. White's appointment is effective immediately.

"Dr. White will provide strong leadership for our Phenix City Campus," Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr., Chancellor, said. "He is familiar with the Bi-City area and our vision and goals for that region and the Phenix City Campus."

He is a past director of the University's Ft. Benning site, where he also served as associate director of academic affairs and as a professor in the department of kinesiology and health promotion. Prior to his work at TROY, Dr. White was a professor in the department of military science at the University of Utah.

"I am honored to serve as the new Vice Chancellor and excited to join the Phenix City Campus team," Dr. White said.

Dr. White served in the U.S. Army from 1970 to 1996, retiring as a colonel.

He earned a bachelor's degree from Florida State University in 1970, a master's in education administration from Georgia State University in 1975 and a doctorate from the University of Utah in 1983.

Dr. Earl Ingram, Interim Provost, said White's military experience will be an asset in his new position.

"Dr. White's experience and skills set will be a perfect match for Phenix City," Dr. Ingram said. "He will do an outstanding job."

Dr. White will be the second vice chancellor in the history of the Phenix City Campus. Founding administrator Dr. Curtis Pitts retired from the position in March.
