Firefighters spend hours battling 40-acre fire

FORTSON, GA (WTVM) – The Georgia Forestry Commission tells News Leader 9 firefighters have spent multiple hours battling a brush fire.

Crews from the Antioch and Cataula fire departments have been battling the 40-acre fire since Tuesday afternoon.

It's not known how the blaze started – we are told it has probably been burning since Labor Day.

Officials tell us the fire did get close to some homes but none were damaged in the blaze.
