Man behind bars in E. Columbus shooting

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – The Columbus Police Department is investigating a shooting in east Columbus. One of the suspects is behind bars.   

Police arrested 29-year-old Clarence Sanks. He is being charged with reckless conduct and carrying a concealed weapon.

Police tell us the shooting occurred around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday on Skylake Drive off Forrest Road in the Regency Park Subdivision. 

Sanks and another suspect allegedly shot a man several times -- striking him in the back. Reports indicate Sanks used a semi-automatic weapon.

Police and EMS officials found the victim sitting in a chair upon arrival. He was taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries.

A stray bullet struck the glass of a nearby car. Inside the car was a child who suffered abrasions from shattered glass. 

No other detail are known at this time.
