SALEM, Ala. (WTVM) -- The state fire marshall's office is currently investigating Tuesday night's blaze at the Dudley Lumber Company in Salem.
Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones says a call came in shortly before 6 PM central time about a fire at Dudley Mill off Highway 280 in Salem. The 911 call came from security at the mill, who said someone heard an explosion.
First responders included the Salem Volunteer Fire Department and they began working near the sawmill located in the back of the property. Officials believe this is where the fire started. At least six other fire departments responded to the blaze.
Firefighters were able to get the fire under control within two hours, but are still working on hot spots.
Sheriff Jones says the State Fire Marshall's office is at the scene investigating, but as of now officials are unsure what caused the fire. They are also still determining if the building will be a total loss, but there is significant damage.
No injuries have been reported.
