Special Agent in Charge Rodney Wall says Pine Mountain police officers were conducting a foot patrol in a housing project on Blanchard Avenue Tuesday afternoon and came across 20-year-old Tremon Moss, a resident of Pine Mountain.
Wall says officers saw Moss reach into in pockets and then starting running away. The officers stunned Moss with a taser, but he kept running.
Agents say Moss then pulled out a gun and pointed it at one of the officers and in return, the officer pulled out his weapon and fired at Moss, hitting him in the legs.
Moss is being treated at the Columbus Regional Medical Center. He is listed in unsatisfactory condition.
Agents say charges may be pending against him but the GBI's investigation into the incident is ongoing.
The GBI will be turning over their findings to the District Attorney's Office and agents tell WTVM prosecutors will determine if the appropriate force was used. Wall says this is standard procedure for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
