Kids break into Columbus elementary school

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – Wednesday morning Columbus police were dispatched to 30th Avenue to investigate Martin Luther King Elementary School.

Upon arrival police found a 10 year-old and a 11 year-old suspect inside the school.

After the juveniles saw police they ran toward the south side door, but once they spotted the police on 31st Avenue, they attempted to get back into the school, but their attempt failed.

They were located near the air conditioning unit and arrested.

Police reports state that the two juveniles forced their way into the school by breaking a door to steal cakes and candy.

Mr. Danny Ervin of the Muscogee County School Security estimated damage to the doors to be more than $500.

They were taken to the Columbus Police Department, processed, then released to their parents.
