Columbus duo arrested during traffic stop, charged with robbery

PHENIX CITY, AL - Two suspects have been arrested by the Phenix City Police Department and charged with an overnight robbery. 

Twenty-year-old Dondrell Aker 23-year-old Trevah Hatchett, both from Columbus,  are charged with four counts each of Robbery in the 1st Degree and are being held at the Russell County Jail.

The two were arrested during a traffic stop shortly after the robbery was reported.

The victims reported to police that they were walking on Old Opelika Road to a convenience store at approximately 2:35 a.m. Wednesday when they were stopped and robbed at gunpoint. 

Aker and Hatchett then fled the scene in a silver mini-van which was later stopped in the area. 
There were no injuries reported by the victims.
