Lee Co. authorities arrest group linked to scrap metal thefts

LEE COUNTY, AL  - On September 29, 2010, at approximately 1:30 PM/CST, the Lee County Sheriff's Office arrested David Charles Luck Jr. (54), Jessica Renee Rogers (23), Christopher Dewayne Brewer (34), Jonathan Gleen Denton (20), and Cody Cheyenne Adams (24), all from Opelika, who have all been charged with one count of Theft of Property in the Third Degree and one count of Criminal Trespassing in the Second Degree.  

These charges stem from a complaint call received by the Sheriff's Office from a business located in the 3000 block of Highway 169 Opelika, Alabama. 

The caller reported that there were several unknown individuals on their property stealing scrap metal.  Deputies arrived on the scene and arrested five individuals (Luck, Rogers, Brewer, Denton, and Adams) who were all being detained by the business employees.

The victims estimated the value of the property taken at approximately $100.00 but stated that similar type thefts had occurred from their business.
