LEE COUNTY, ALA (WTVM) - A trip home following an Auburn University football game ended in tragedy for a 13 year old this weekend.

Peyton Williams was traveling back to Boaz, Alabama along with his grandmother, Betty Williams, and a cousin, Wesley Burns.

They were driving along Highway 280 westbound when Betty Williams lost control of the car, sending it into the median and flipping it several times.

Peyton Williams was ejected from the car and was pronounced dead at the scene by Lee County Chief Deputy Coroner Gene Manning at 3:40 p.m. CT

Betty Williams and Wesley Burns were transported to the East Alabama Medical Center with apparent non-life threatening injuries.

A press release from Lee County Coroner Bill Harris says it is apparent Peyton Williams was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
