Sci-Fi convention at Coca-Cola Space Science Center Saturday

COLUMBUS, GA - Columbus State's Coca-Cola Space Science Center hosts its third annual Columbus Sci-Fi Convention and Toy Show 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9 at the center, 701 Front Avenue.

The featured guest is actor Daniel Logan, who portrayed the young Boba Fett in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones and does the voice of the same character in The Clone Wars animated series.

Admission is $5 per person and includes all activities and a free autograph from Logan, who also will participate in a question-and-answer session.

In addition to Logan, vendors will showcase sci-fi collectibles and comic books, and the local Star Trek club and costuming guilds from the 501st and Rebel Legion will participate. Plus, characters appearing in costume will cover Star Wars, Alien vs. Predator, Johnny Depp characters and more.

The event also will include a costuming panel discussion, planetarium shows in the full-dome Omnisphere Theater, video game tournaments and food.

    The Mississippi Highway Patrol is looking for a driver who ran away from the scene of a deadly crash in George County. Three children were killed in the crash. Troopers said a green 2003 Kia Optima was heading east on Highway 198, east of Depot Road, shortly before 4 p.m. on Saturday.
