Man pistol whipped and robbed of hundreds

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM)  - A Columbus man says he was robbed and pistol whipped Monday night while walking near the intersection of Lawyers Lane and Schaul Street.

The victim told Columbus police a black Chevy Tahoe with four black men pulled up beside him. He recounted to police that three of the men jumped out of the SUV – one of the men was holding a black revolver and the men allegedly demanded money.

Police reports indicate the victim handed over $500. The gunman allegedly struck the victim in the head with the gun. The victim suffered a swollen eye and cuts to his ear and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The gunman is described as a black man, 6' to 6'2, around 140 to 150 pounds wearing blue jeans and a black shirt.
