COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -  A man is found dead inside a vacant South Columbus home and now authorities are asking for the public's help in identifying him.

According to Muscogee County Coroner Bill Thrower, folks in the Benning Hills neighborhood reported smelling a horrible odor and it led officials to a vacant house at 88 Pelham Drive where a black man between 48-50 was found dead Sunday.

Throwers says police have several leads but no solid identification. Officials think his birthday could be March 20, 1962. The coroner says he was wearing cut off exercise pants and a pull over shirt when he was found.

No foul play is suspected at this point.

Anyone with information is asked to call Columbus investigators at 706-653-3400 or the Coroner's Office at 706-653-3260.
