COLUMBUS, GA – A Fort Benning contract worker has posted a quarter-million-dollar Georgia Lottery win. Sallie Epps, 56, won $250,000 playing the instant game $150,000,000 Slots of Luck.
Epps purchased and scratched her top prize ticket at R & S Grocery, 541 Second Ave., Columbus.
"I kind of screamed a little bit," she said.
Epps, a Phenix City, Ala., resident, claimed her prize Friday afternoon at the Georgia Lottery's Columbus district office.
"It feels great," she said. "I'm going to pay off all my bills and probably do a little traveling."
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $12.1 billion to the state of Georgia for education.
All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Pre-K Program.
More than 1.25 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
