COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -  Columbus Police say a local teen robbed a convenience store but didn't get very far with the loot.

According to investigators, 17-year-old Skyler Brown robbed the Circle K on 12th Avenue at gunpoint around 8:30 Wednesday night and got away with cash.

Workers called police, and several patrol officers and detectives were nearby investigating another case.

They caught Brown two blocks away and officials say he had the gun and money on him.

Brown faces charges of armed robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and theft by receiving stolen property. That's because investigators say the weapon he had was stolen during a burglary at Ed's Muffler Shop on Hamilton Road back in September.

He is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing Friday at 9 AM.
