COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -  A traffic stop in Columbus leaves a police officer with bite wounds.

It happened Wednesday morning at 5 AM on Cusseta road and 23rd Avenue.

The officer says a man he had pulled over became combative and when other assisting officers tried to subdue him, he started struggling and bit Officer Nathan Tooley on the arm and twice on the wrist when he was being taken into jail.

Corporal Alicia Hoover was helping Tooley get the suspect out of his patrol car and into jail when she says the man spit in her face.
